SDA Bocconi Champions League I
MBA Tournament Students from MBA34 decided to gather with students from other SDA Bocconi Masters and create a Soccer Champions League.

The tournament began on 29th September and lasted a month, with the finals being played on 28th October. Six teams faced each others in nineteen games: MBA34 WHITE, MBA34 BLUE, MBA35 WHITE, MBA35 BLUE, CEGA 55, EMBA 8. Most of the games were played near SDA Bocconi at the "FC Vigejunior" or "Calcio Tennis Barona" fields. The matches were played 7 versus 7, and the tournament included over 80 participants.

After their experience at the MBA Tournament in Paris, the MBA 34 students were determined to conduct their own improved tournament. In September, the idea started to grow and after some brainstorming, the MBA34 students contacted friends from other Masters, including the incoming MBA35, and the tournament quickly came to fruition. It all begun with a “round-robin league,” where each team would play each other, and later the top four teams qualified for the semifinals with the winners meeting for the championship match. The quality of play was quite impressive. It was very competitive, and the teams conducted themselves well throughout.
What is most important is that thanks to this tournament, the students had the chance to bond as players, colleagues, and friends. The inclusion of many SDA programs was significant, in order to share common positive moments and get know new people.

The SDA Bocconi MBA has great events on its schedule, such as the Ski Cup and Sailing Regatta, which allow them to network with students and alumni from the School and from other Business Schools. The Champions League represents something new, since is the first event that lasts an entire month and maintains communication past a single weekend. This was the ultimate goal of "SDA Bocconi Champions League I."

MBA34 hopes the tournament will become an annual event and that MBA35 maintains the legacy, further expanding it to include other masters programs, faculty, staff, and alumni from SDA Bocconi.

The final standings in the month-long tournament were as follows:

1. MBA35 BLUE

2. MBA34 WHITE

3. MBA34 BLUE

4. CEGA 55

5. EMBA 8

6. MBA35 WHITE

Individual awards were given to Dario Dal Pino (Tournament MVP) and Marko Katic (Top Goalscorer).

Beer, truffles and wine for the DiVino Club 2009 closing events.
DiVino Club

What better way is there to fight the upcoming winter than gathering for a glass of good wine and food tasting? The SDA Bocconi DiVino Club, in collaboration with the Master in Fine Food and Beverage (MFFB) students, recently organised two events that warmed everybody up.

On 26th October, in the SDA Bocconi Cafeteria, a great took event place, offering artisanal beers, wines and cocktails combined with salty, sweet and spicy food, served in unconventional pairings. The event was organised and prepared with MFFB students, and gave rise to discussions, explanations and a lot of fun. It become a perfect way to get in touch with the experts “from the field” and to discover new tastes and products.

Now we have arrived in November, the month of new challenges and opportunities for the MBAs but also for truffles and wine! In fact, on 1st November, the SDA Bocconi DiVino Club took its members for a trip to the beautiful cantina “Marchesi di Barolo” in Barolo, Piemonte.

The participants had the chance to be guided through Barolo’s historical and new cellars and then were delighted by a typical Langa’s menu with truffles, in Barolo’s restaurant. After the lunch students visited the city of Alba that is hosting the White Truffle World Market and “Alba Qualità”, an exhibition of gourmet food and wine from Piemonte.
